Mom Says Cannabis Oil Cured Her Postpartum Depression

Date:

A woman claims to have cured her post-natal depression – with cannabis oil. Natasha Doran, 33, began struggling with her mental health after giving birth to son, Isaac, now four, in May 2019.

She tried therapy and medication but found ”nothing worked” for her extreme daily panic attacks. After trying to speak to her GP, attending online therapy and starting anti-depressants, she felt “worse than ever”.

By June 2020, she was struggling to leave the house and felt was suffering from debilitating insomnia. When a friend recommended CBD oil Natasha decided to give it a go and spent £60 on a 10ml bottle on her first order online.

Cannabidiol is a chemical substance found in cannabis which is said to have medical benefits. She began taking a drop under the tongue a day and says her anxiety and depression soon began to ease.

Just six months after taking CBD she was then back at the gym, sleeping normally and had completely stopped having panic attacks. The mum-of-one was so ”bowled over” by the hemp product that she started her own company, named Hemp-Aid Limited, in November 2022, leaving her old nursery job.

Natasha, from Moreton, the Wirral, said: “I couldn’t sleep, and I never wanted to leave the house. Sometimes it felt like there was no hope.

“I was sceptical at first, but I did my research first. My family was hesitant at first.

“After a few months trying CBD, I had my drive back. I wanted to see friends, go to the gym and go on playdates with my son.

”It literally gave me my life back.” Despite a smooth pregnancy, Natasha had a ”traumatic” labour with her first son at Whiston Hospital, Prescot, Lancashire.

Isaac was born with the umbilical cord around his neck and a c-section left the new mum in agony due to blood clots. Natasha, a former nursery manager, said: “I lost myself after the birth.

“I was in a lot of pain after the surgery too, it wasn’t a great start to motherhood.” After a week in hospital, Natasha found herself sinking into a ”deep depression” once home with her newborn.

Natasha said: “At first I thought it was normal. But when I had lost all desire to leave the house, I knew something was wrong.

“I was worried for Isaac because I wasn’t being social. I wanted him to have more friends.

“So it really kicked me to start.” After suffering for four years with conventional treatments not working, she confided to her partner who recommended CBD oil.
